  Expanded Polystyrene Insulation
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid closed cell, lightweight, resilient, foamed plastic insulation. EPS is manufactured from resin that includes a flame retardant. However, it should be considered flammable and should not be exposed to any source of combustion. EPS is manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM C578 and major building codes.		  
     
 

Environmental Impact
EPS insulation is an inert, organic material produced from petroleum and natural gas byproducts. EPS insulation does not contain CFCs or HCFCs. It is manufactured with hydrocarbon blowing agents. It provides no nutritive values to plants, animals, or micoorganisms. It will not rot, and is highly resistant to mildew.
